KISS DP-600 KNAS Firmware Is Now Officially Released

11 July, 2007

Technology, Tips

Linksys has finally released the KNAS firmware for the High Definition Media Player KISS DP-600. It is the same firmware that is used in Linksys’ latest DVD-player KISS DP-1600.

You can download the firmware directly from Linksys.

Read on for the installation guide.

You can read much more about the High Definition Media Player DP-1600 that I’ve been spending so many posts about.

I suspect there is more behind the KNAS firmware than just helping the owners of a DP-600. Linksys has some new products up their sleeves, but more about that tomorrow.

How to install KNAS:

Burn the .iso file on a CD as an image.

1. Turn on the unit with the ON/OFF button (on the back panel)

2. Open the tray, and insert the update CD without closing the tray

3. Turn off the unit with the ON/OFF button (on the back panel)

4. Press the Default button on the back of the unit

5. Turn on the unit with the ON/OFF button, keep the default button
pressed, and press the STOP button on the front panel of the player (the
tray closes and PLEASE WAIT appears on the display)

6. Stop pressing the Default button 30 seconds after clicking on the
Standby button.

This firmware sucks…removed pretty much any useful functions like the “Search” in avi’s, etc.

Still freezes when different DVD are inserted, working with other players though. But only way how to eject the DVD is to start flashing process and than it finds out this DVD is not new firmware. and HDTV is either slow or not recognized at all

True. I used the new firmware once and then I went back to the old one again :-/
