Show Me Your Desktop, Leon Ho

August 26, 2007

It’s Sunday again and time for another round of Show Me Your Desktop. Last week I interviewed Arpit Jacob from Clazh.com. This week it’s Leon Ho from lifehack.org’s turn. Leon is the founder of lifehack.org and I’m very thrilled that he took the time to answer my questions. If you don’t know lifehack.org, it’s a site about… well life hacks - getting things done, being organised and increasing productivity.

Posts like 21 Ways To Add More Hours To The Day and 18 Tricks To Make New Habits Stick are among the popular ones. Lifehack.org has been mentioned in several medias including Time Magazine and The Washington Post.

I’m therefore very proud to ask Leon Ho to Show Me Your Desktop. Oh and please notice the new category “Show Me Your Desktop” with on click you can read the old interviews.

Of course, there is a bonus question again this week.

What is your background picture?

I do not use any background at the moment.

Why did you choose not to have a background?

Without a background, it reduces cluttering on the desktop. Also it uses less computer memory.

If you have a personal and a work computer, which program do you use the most on your personal computer?

Firefox.

Which program do you use the most on your work computer?

Firefox, as my current work is mostly related to web.

Internet Explorer or Firefox?

Firefox.

A part from your work, why do you use Firefox?

It is an open source software. It has capability extending
functionality with extensions.

What is your favourite program?

Firefox.

Which program is the worst?

Internet Explorer.

Do you have any tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your computer or blog?

Get a second monitor for dual display, if your display card supports his functionality. The bigger screen space you have, you switch less back and forth between applications. It is the best productivity item I used when working with a computer.

Bonus Question: You are using a Mac, why is that? Did you use a PC and then changed to Mac?

In my previous job I use Linux. Mac gives me the power on both UNIX and graphical interface. It just works straight out of the box. Plus virtualization on Mac gives me ability to run Windows applications anyway.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions, Leon. Next week I’ll ask the author of #1 New York Time Bestseller 4-Hour Workweek Tim Ferriss to Show Me Your Desktop.

I’m amazed how popular Firefox is. I use it myself too of course in combination with Flock. If you are an Internet Explorer user I would to hear from you. Why do you use Internet Explorer? Did you use Firefox and then decided to go back to IE?
