Twittermania 8 New Twitter Services
June 24, 2008
The twittermania continues. “Every time a bell rings, a new twitter service gets it’s wings” - You may use this quote freely.
It’s almost impossible to keep track of all the new twitter services that are constantly launched. I’ve created a list of the most recent services.
The list goes from Tweetmarks and spamplets to Hiimok and HappyTwitDay.

I’ve found a new batch of really interesting links.
- Plurk is the new microblogging service that everyone is talking about. It can be a very addictive. RevenueRobot has gathered a few Plurk tools. I can recommend the Plurk tracking tool.
- Ping.fm let’s you post to all your microblogging sites at once or update your statuses. Sign up using “tastyping” as invitation code.
- Battlefield Heroes is a free cartoon-style game from the people behind Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield 2. The game is currently in closed beta, but accepting testers from time to time.

Twitter Alternatives - Plurk Or Pownce
June 6, 2008
It’s no surprise that twitter can be a bit unstable from time to time. Twitter is probably the only service I know that’s almost more down than it’s up, and still have a loyal fan base and increase it’s number of users.
But what are the alternatives?
There are a lot of similar micro-blogging services out there, but can they replace twitter? Read more

In the nature of this blog’s name I’ve gathered a bunch of applications and services, that are in beta.
- StumbleRank - Are you one of the top stumblers? You can add yourself and see who has the most followers. Rank is calculated on number of fans and reviews.
- Spanning Sync 2.0 - Sync your Gmail contacts with your Address Book and your Google Calendar with iCal. This is Mac only. Remember to back up your Gmail and Google Calendar first.
- Twine - Let’s you network with people who share your interests and hobbies. I have 30 Twine invitations. Let me know if you are interested.
- Evernote - Capture information with whatever device you have at hand. It doesn’t support Firefox 3 yet, so I haven’t tried the browser version. Evernote only supports Windows Mobiles too. No Linux support either, so not completely sure about the sales pitch. Let me know if you want an invite.

A Day In The Life Of Twitter
May 30, 2008
This is only my second video, so please be gentle.
Using summize.com I’ve gathered some of the tweets from desperate, disappointed or even angry twitterers after twitter.com’s nasty downtime last Wednesday.
Which program and on which hardware I made the video is not important, at least not now, but it’s a part of my quest for the Apple. Read more

It’s time for another batch of very useful links:
- Twitter.com is down a lot and the latest statistics from Pingdom confirms this. From January to April twitter has been down 37 hours and 16 minutes. That’s 18.5 minutes a day.
- Mahalo VLOG Idol continues and The Beta News favourite, Lisa Brewster is still going strong. All I (and Tyra Banks) can say is: Congratulations Lisa, you are still in the running of becoming America’s Next To….ehrrmmm…Mahalo Top Host.
- Duncan Riley, who I interviewed a few months ago, has left TechCrunch and started his own site, The Inquisitr, which features a mix of pop, tech and odd news.

- Windows 7 milestone is ready next year. According to many rumours, some sort of release milestone of Windows 7 will be ready in a year. (I guessed that in January). Paul Thurrott has a screenshot gallery of Windows 7.
- Twingly, the spam-free blog search engine, launched it’s private beta last week. I’ve got my hands on 10 invitations and I can get a bunch more. Some are calling it the next Technorati. Let me know if you are interested.
- Dan from Minute44.com spent a great deal of time helping me correcting a few design issues on The Beta News. I really appreciate the help and I think you should stop by Minute44.com and check out Dan’s blog!
