9 Reasons Why Blogging Is Just Like Playing World Of Warcraft

June 18, 2008

http://www.mostlylisa.comI’ve had this post in my head for quite some time. I’m not sure if it will work, but I have to get it out of my head. I tried stabbing my brain with Q-tips, but it doesn’t help anymore.

Statement: Blogging is just like a massively multi player online game, it could be World of Warcraft, Everquest 2, Eve Online or one of the many other MMOs out there.

That’s quite a bold statement some might say. Oh yeah? Allow me to explain. Read more

FIFA 09 News Launched But Which Ads Should I Show?

June 16, 2008

Last year’s successful launch of FIFA 2008 News inspired me to try again this year. Through hard work and a lot of viral marketing (commenting on blogs and forum participation) I managed to make FIFA 2008 News one of the major FIFA blogs.

I’ve moved the entire blog to FIFA2009News.com and redirected the traffic to the new site as well. I’m really looking forward to this.

I just love the smell of a new blog in the morning… Read more

My Quest For The Apple Part Deux

May 22, 2008

quest2 My Quest For The Apple Part DeuxAs you might have read, I’m on a quest for either a MacBook or a PC. The comments in the latest post clearly shows that the battle between Apple and Microsoft - or OS X and Windows - is very easy to spot.

Which one offers the most value? Since both the MacBooks (Pro) or generic PC have the same hardware specifications, it all comes down to the operating system.

The noble art of OS-bashing goes on… Read more

Guest Post On The Beta News

April 1, 2008

As some of you know (you will if you follow me on twitter), I’ve got a new job. This is my first week as team manager at Norriq.. I’m managing a team of consultants with expertise in Windows 2003, Symantec and Citrix products, Microsoft Exchange, firewall and various other infrastructure solutions.

Unfortunately I had to return my laptop to my former employer, so now I have to use my stationary PC, which is located in my office - away from the living room, wife, son, tv and so forth.

Hopefully I’ll get my hands on a MacBook Pro (somehow). I really want to try out one of those and see if they really are better than PCs.

The new job also means that I’ll be really tired when I get home, so I could really need a hand keeping me readers happy with quality posts.

So if you have something on your heart or would like to reach a larger audience, please send your guest post suggestion to me dbp (at) thebetanews.com.

Everybody is welcome as long as it’s within this blog’s topics.

I’ve compiled a list of gadgets, equipment, skills and programs that I need in order to match the stereotypical blogger. Read more

Did You Check Your Blog’s Readability Lately?

January 16, 2008

I was checking out my visitor’s Entrecards as I ran into Leon who runs “My Thoughts On…Stuff”. He had just checked hisreadabilitycropped.jpg blog’s readability. According to his post he was rather surprised that his blog’s reading level “only” is Elementary School.

Then the lightning hit me - Is The Beta News too easy to read? Are my writing juvenile too? And is that good or bad?

I think one of the “advantages” of not natively talking English, is that I only semioccasionally use elongated or ostentatious words. Nevertheless I decided to check the readability of The Beta News just to make sure.
