Show Me Your Desktop, Scott Adams
January 27, 2008
To some the name Scott Adams might not ring a bell. I’ll give you a few hints, BOCTAOE, YSLE, Moist Robots and Elbonian. Did that ring a bell? The ultimate giveaway is of course - Dilbert.
Yes, THE Scott Adams is the first one to be featured in the relaunch of Show Me Your Desktop, season 2.
I’ve been a great fan of Scott’s blog for a long time. The post varies from the very philosophical topics to general nonsense. Some of his posts about Intelligent Design might be a bit too advanced for me.
Scott is probably also the most robbed man in the world. It was also through his blog I learned about Stephan Pastis’ brilliant comic Pearls Before Swine. I usually buy the Dilbert Day-to-Day Calendar, but this year I managed to find the Pearls Before Swine Day-to-Day Calendar, so please forgive me Scott. To compensate I get the Dilbert comic in my email every day.
Now let’s move on with the interview. To the new readers welcome to season 2 of Show Me Your Desktop, where I every Sunday ask a blogger to tell us a bit about his or her computer desktop and give a few tips. The interview usually also features a screen shot of her or his desktop.
What is your background picture?
Just a plain color. Sort of greenish blue.
Why did you chose that picture?
I like the background to be non-distracting.
If you have a personal and a work computer, which program do you use the most on your personal computer?
At home, I generally only use the Internet, using IE.
Which program do you use the most on your work computer?
My office computer is mostly for Photoshop work, on the Dilbert comic. But I’m in Outlook, IE, and MS Words all day too.
Internet Explorer or Firefox?
I use IE just because I’m too impatient to work through any incompatibilities I might get with Firefox.
Why do you use Internet Explorer?
IE because I’m too lazy to learn more about FF, which I understand the people in the know prefer.
What is your favourite program?
My Dymo label printer software, with its dedicated label printer, makes me happy in ways I can’t explain. It is an irrational love.
Which program is the worst?
AOL software bugs me. It’s always begging me for some sort of update.
Do you have any tips and tricks on how to get the most out of your computer or blog?
Get more RAM than you ever thought you would need, and keep lots of applications open if you need them often.
Thank you very much Scott. I’m very honoured to kick the series of with such a big celebrity (well in my world you are).
So who else can you expect in this season of Show Me Your Desktop? Well in no particular order I’ve got interviews from Guy Kawasaki, Jeremy Schoemaker (Shoemoney), Larissa Meek (artist, Miss USA finalist and reality TV star), Sarah Meyers (Founder and host of POP Snap) , Fake Steve Jobs, Duncan Riley (TechCrunch, Blogging Evangelist and B5 Media co-founder), Lisa Brewster (Sophistechate, Schwag-model and Web 2.0 entrepeneur) and Amber Mac (She does too many things to list here) just to name a few. So as you can see this is going to be a REALLY interesting season!
Do you have any interview suggestions? Then please let me know.
Instead of showing you a picture of Scott’s desktop, I’ll show you the latest Dilbert widget. It comes in different sizes and fit onto every platform. The Dilbert Widget is free.
