Now this sounds really interesting. My first PDA was a Palm III, which I bought in 1998. A year later I upgraded it to a Palm V. With the Palm V I could connect to my cell phone through infrared and update AvantGo. Man, that was advanced! Did you ever own a Palm? What do you miss the most?

“Jeff Hawkins, founder of Palm Inc. will host a live video webcast today, May 30, to describe a new category of mobile device. The webcast will follow the announcement of this new product at the D: All Things Digital conference in Carlsbad, California.

Hawkins will discuss Palm’s vision for this new category and demonstrate the new product’s capabilities, followed by a Q&A session.

Update: The gadget Hawkins will annouce is a thingy with the codename: “Hawk”, with the real name “Foleo”. It is not a laptop or a smartphone, neither Tungsten nor Treo. It is a smartphone companion. Foleo has a full QWERTY keyboard and a large LCD. It pairs with your smartphone through Bluetooth. It will be the first device to feature Palm’s new Linux-based OS. It can run applications independently from your smartphone. CrunchGear has the full story on Palm’s Foleo.

@Lars: Ah yes the remote control. I forgot all about that. It did run fast and usually without any errors though ;)
  • I used to have a Palmâ„¢ m100 but sold in on QXL for almost the same price I paid :) It was nice while it lasted, but typing on it was a pain in the @$$... I used to play the small games you could find online and also used it as a remote control for my tv, sat dish and so on :) One thing I really liked was that I could see my WinAmp playlist, pause/play, forward etc. the songs played on my computer :)
