Many of you know the site “I Can Has Cheezburger“. If you don’t you are missing one of the internet’s phenomenons. The site
posted the first picture January 11, 2007, but is already very well-known in the StumbleUpon-sphere, among cat lovers and “funny email senders”.It all started with the picture to the right, which apparently made the creators, Cheezburger and Tofuburger laugh for 73.5 minutes. The cat is called Happycat and is used by a Russian cat food company.
Tofu created this answer and several other quickly followed. These pictures are called “lolcats” or cat macros. They were invented several years ago on various forums, which every Caturday (Saturday) featured a new weird cat picture. “I Can Has Cheezburger” was the first site to tag and collect them.
The lolcats-phenomenon has since then evolved into lolbrarians, lolpresidents, lolblogger and so forth. A new lol-spinoff is created every week. I guess you can it has some similarities to the Priceless (Prycless)-series.
It doesn’t require much imagination to hear the cats say these comments. The poor English grammar reminds you of baby-talk mixed with internet slang. I think if our cat could speak, it would speak like this: “I is an Ewok” or ” I is in you computer fix’n it”. Other classic comments include “Invisible *something*( like dogbone, car, bike etc)” and “I made you *something*, but I eated it”.
In short the recipe is: Find a picture of a cute looking cat (or other animal) + write a comment using baby-talk and internet slang = a lot of laughs.
Have a great weekend!
