Show Me Your Desktop, Leon Ho
August 26, 2007
It’s Sunday again and time for another round of Show Me Your Desktop. Last week I interviewed Arpit Jacob from
Clazh.com. This week it’s Leon Ho from lifehack.org’s turn. Leon is the founder of lifehack.org and I’m very thrilled that he took the time to answer my questions. If you don’t know lifehack.org, it’s a site about… well life hacks - getting things done, being organised and increasing productivity.
Posts like 21 Ways To Add More Hours To The Day and 18 Tricks To Make New Habits Stick are among the popular ones. Lifehack.org has been mentioned in several medias including Time Magazine and The Washington Post.
I’m therefore very proud to ask Leon Ho to Show Me Your Desktop. Oh and please notice the new category “Show Me Your Desktop” with on click you can read the old interviews.
Of course, there is a bonus question again this week.

Is The Internet Destroying Culture?
August 24, 2007
According to a British author, the Internet is destroying culture because amateurs and bloggers are allowed to share their work for free with others. He argues that there are artists that doesn’t make a living because their work is stolen on the Internet. He also says that the internet is worse for culture than the Nazis?! To me he sounds like an elitist son of a gun.

Linking by The Beta News
August 22, 2007
- Randa Clay is confirming my theory of the importance of a logo for your site or blog. Which reminds me, I’m looking for a logo designer for my blog. If you are in the same dire need of a logo, then perhaps joining Randa’s Pimp My Blog contest can help you out. The first prize is a logo and a header for your site. I’m trying my luck.
- Aaron from The Mad Hat explains why Wikipedia has the answers to Life, the Universe and Everything. My previous post about the Wiki Scanner is a great supplement to Aaron’s post.
- OneTipADay writes about the improved Alexa Redirect plugin for Wordpress. I’ve never been a fan of the Alexa Redirection links. They are “ugly” and they make you look like you are drawing free link juice for you Alexa Rank. Of course we are all doing that, but I don’t see any reason to brag about it. Andy Beard explains about linking mistakes including Alexa redirect, while Lord Matt explains with pictures and everything why Alexa redirection doesn’t work.

Major Companies, The Vatican And Governments Busted By Wikipedia Scanner
August 21, 2007
As some of you might know I’m running two other sites, www.fifa2008news.com and fm2008news.com. Both of these sites
feature latest news about two football or soccer video games. They even have news that can’t be found anywhere else on the internet, since both games have their roots in Europe, I get the information before the American sites. I like to share that information, so I regularly update the topics related to these video games on Wikipedia.
Now here’s the problem - According to Wikipedia’s rules links to blogs and other personal sites should be avoided, so the information I posted on both of these sites was removed. It was the editors of the articles that removed the information. Of course I don’t post unconfirmed information or rumours, so I contacted the editors and they told me that you can’t link to a blog. I talked a bit back and forth with the editors and ultimately I stopped editing the articles. The Wikipedia article about FIFA 08 and Football Manager 2008 still lacks a lot of information, but apparently thats the way it should be. When is a blog a blog? When is it a personal site?
Companies Update Their Own Wiki Articles
Now here is the funny thing, I’m not the only one that updates articles to get some free PR. No apparently others do that too…(big surprise!) Apple edits Microsoft’s article and vice versa, The Vatican edits Irish Catholic politician Gerry Adam’s page and Coca Cola removes negative content about its effects. The list goes on and I’ve found one for you.

Show Me Your Desktop, Arpit Jacob
August 19, 2007
The “Show Me Your Desktop” interview series continues. If you missed last week’s interview with David Airey remember
to read that one. David has a great tips about cleaning your computer?!
This week I’ve interviewed Arpit Jacob from Clazh.com. You might already recognise the name from my blogroll. I’m proud to say that I’ve known Arpit for some time now. He is my Wordpress Theme Go-To-Guy. If I find a theme for my site, I usually run it by Arpit first. He has a good eye for blog design, actually he is so good that he recently won the Sandbox Theme Design Contest with his theme Sandpress.
Again I’ve asked a bonus question. I’ll not reveal everything here, but I can tell you that Arpit isn’t a fan of iTunes.

5 Blogging Mistakes I Keep Doing And Haven’t Fixed Yet
August 14, 2007
Do you know what mistakes you often make on your blog or in life? Do you do anything to correct them? If yes, then do you
fall back into old habits after a while again?
I tend to do that. I realise that I’m making a mistake, I correct it, but then sometime I fall back into the old habit again. To rub salt into my blog-wounds, display my stupidity and show my ignorance, I’ve created this list of 5 blogging mistakes I keep doing and haven’t fixed yet.

Show Me Your Desktop, David Airey
August 12, 2007
Last week I interviewed Randa Clay from Randa Clay Design. This week it’s David Airey from DavidAirey.com’s turn. He
runs his own design business and I’m suspecting him of having a “logo-fetish”. I was Stumbling around the other day, only to discover David’s face on a lot of the pages I found. It was because of the MyBlogLog widget on various pages, that I knew. He is also the creator of the only meme-list, The Face Behind The Blog, I’ve ever participated in and I’m glad I did. I still get link love from it, even though it’s almost three months old.
To celebrate his blog’s 1 year anniversary, he is running a graphic design / marketing / branding / SEO / blogging prize giveaway. If you have any prizes to offer, David would like to hear from you.
Of course a big concept like “Show Me Your Desktop” is constantly evolving, so I’ve added a bonus question again this week.

6 Video Games Ready To Be Tested
August 11, 2007
After almost a week of summer in Denmark, the weather is back to being gray and cold. Good thing I found several video games for you to beta test then. I’ve got to referee some football/soccer, so I won’t have time to test them all today.
One of the beta tests are taking me down memory lane. Magic: The Gathering. I played the first video game, where you walked around on Dominaria and liberated various towns by playing against different monsters. Later on I bought the game for my Xbox, but it wasn’t the same. I still have the playing cards hidden somewhere in the attic.
Anyway, I got some exciting video game betas for you today; Tabula Rasa, a MMORPG. Magic: The Gathering Online, online card game, The Settlers 6, Real-Time strategy and Quake Wars, First person shooter.

Off-Topic Friday - This Post Will Help Me Win A Nintendo Wii
August 10, 2007
Today I’ll try something new. I’m going to try and hopefully win a Nintendo Wii or Playstation 3. I’m not sure yet. How I’m
going to do that? I’ll simply write the best cow-related post.
Yes I said cow, because I’m participating in a cowpetition that JohnCow.com is having. Now let me tell you why I hopefully will win a Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii iPhone, iPod, AppleTV or Xbox360. You have to have seize every opportunity and milk it for all its worth. That’s what the mad cow blog did and that brought their web hosting provider (Mifco) in a good moooo-d. As the old saying goes: “Honor thy fodder and thy mother and all your udder relatives” and because of that Mifco is giving $500 to spend on a gadget.
So I’ll cow-nt my blessings and keep stepping on cowpies for good luck. Some say it’s more important to be seen than herd, I think it’s more important not take take bull from anyone. So if I don’t win the cowpetition I won’t cry over spilled milk, but instead turn the udder cheek and mooo-ve on.

Off-Topic Friday - Chuck Norris Karate Kommando
August 10, 2007
We all know the Chuck Norris jokes like “Chuck Norris has two speed. Walk and Kill” or “Chuck Norris once ate a whole cake before his friends could tell him there was a stripper in it” or “When Chuck Norris falls in water, Chuck Norris doesn’t get wet. Water gets Chuck Norris” or….Ok I’ll stop now.
Well it’s Off-Topic Friday and I found a real treat this time: Marvel’s Chuck Norris comic! Yes I didn’t know that either. Chuck Norris had his own comic, which lasted four whole issues back in 1987. I found this little treat on misterkitty.org.
