Windows Vista Performance And Reliability Pack Unofficial Release
July 30, 2007
I found this one Neowin:
Remember these patches goes live next Tuedays, so they are official, just not released.
Thanks Nekrosoft for the news on this major update to Windows Vista that should for most of us improve the speed and reliability of Windows Vista significantly!
Please note: These fixes break all current methods of bypassing driver singing requirements except the good old F8 during boot (that you have to do every single time you start vista)
IF you are using Rivatuner, atitool and or Peerguardian on 64bit vista, you will have to use F8 every single time to disable driver signing requirements to use those two programs. x86 version is unaffected.
These updates should go official on the next patch Tuesday (in one weeks time). Please read more for the download links and information on these updates.

Show Me Your Desktop, Yaro Starak
July 29, 2007
Last week I interviewed Leo Babauta from zen habits. This week it’s Yaro Starak from Entrepreneur’s Journey turn. Yaro runs several successful blogs, including the Blog Mastermind Program, which teaches you how to run a successful blog and the Blog Profits Blueprint, an ebook that explains how to earn $5000+ each month.
1. What is your background picture?
I’ve had different backgrounds in the past but now I just
use good old fashioned standard blue. I like simplicity.

Cheap $150 Laptop - Scam Or Real?
July 27, 2007
Several sites and news media are talking about the cheap laptop from the Swedish company Medison. The company are selling the laptop for $150 through their website www.medisoncelebrity.com and you pay with your creditcard. Medison is using 2Checkout.com as payment processor.
Is it a scam or the real deal? Read on and make your own conclusion.
Facts
How can they make it so cheap? According to Medison they use a plant in Brazil to build the laptops, Linux Fedora as operating system and outdated components. (The homepage looks very cheap too)

Pownce - What Is It All About? Is It Better Than Twitter?
July 26, 2007
Pownce (pounce) - You might have heard or read about it. It’s all over the internet, not as in Joost-all-over-the-internet, but pretty close.
This is what they say about themselves:
Pownce is a way to send stuff to your friends. What kind of stuff? You can send just about anything: music, photos, messages, links, events, and more. You can do it all on our web site, or install our lightweight desktop software that lets you get out of the browser.
So what’s all the commotion about?

10 Things You Can Do While Waiting For The Simpsons Movie Premiere
July 24, 2007
The Simpsons Movie officially premieres on Friday July 27th. Those lucky enough to live in Springfield, Vermont did get a sneak peek last Saturday. In Denmark we have to wait another week until August 3rd. We are more lucky than the Japanese though, they won’t see it until March 1st 2008. By then they will all have either downloaded the DVD-rip or bought the DVD on Amazon.
For some it’s almost like Christmas, the waiting is unbearable. Don’t worry help is on the way. I’ve created a list of things to do while waiting for The Simpsons Movie premiere.
Here is a list of 10 Things You Can Do While Waiting For The Simpsons Movie Premiere:

Speedlinking By The Beta News
July 23, 2007
Based on my recent interview with Leo Babauta from zen habits, I’ve found several new sites that help you keep stay fit, healthy, productive and motivated.
Runner+ - It´s a well put together database for all things dealing with running. Runner+ is the social network for runners. There are all kinds of tools to help you track and improve your running. You can log in your stats and they can be downloaded in Excel format, or you can see them in a bunch of different charts, or you can compare them to the stats of your friends for a little friendly competition.
Goalmigo - This site will help you keep track of all your goals. Once you’ve registered simply jot down your goals (quick description, title) and the date by which you’d like to accomplish them. Goalmigo will send out an email to supporters who’ll help you achieve those goals. Goalmigo is certainly a good idea, and it’s got a robust infrastructure to match. Members are given ample support and there are many possibilities to express it—video, comments and the like. The interface is clean and organized.

Show Me Your Desktop, Leo Babauta
July 22, 2007
Last week I interviewed Wendy Piersall from eMomsathome.com. This week it’s Leo Babauta from zen habits turn.
Leo writes excellent life hacking articles. I’ve personally followed several of them. It’s because of him my work inbox is completely empty and organised. It’s his “fault” that my wife and I now get 30 minutes earlier out of bed every morning. We really enjoy having the 30 minutes extra each morning.
Because of the surprising answer to the first question, I’ve added a bonus question at the end of the interview.
1. What is your background picture?
Right now I’m using a wallpaper called “Wet Blueberries” by Jim Mires
(from www.crestock.com). You’ll notice I don’t have any icons on my
desktop.

Special Invitation To The Beta News Readers - Join Searoo Alpha
July 20, 2007
Rhode Island, USA based Swift Blue has asked me to invite The Beta News readers to join the alpha test of their local search engine. I’ve previously written about one of Swift Blue’s project, FamFridge, unfortunately a tragic family issue has set them back.
Searoo Local Search is only for the US at the moment, so you need an American zip code to register. Once you’ve registered you can review restaurants and see the reviews for the restaurants in your neighbourhood. There is also a Q&A section, where the users can connect and ask for restaurant, hotel and other recommendations.
Searoo is still in alpha test, so you should prepare for a few dead links and missing options.

Moving To Another Domain - What I’ve Learned So Far Part 2
July 19, 2007
As you might know I recently moved from www.petersen-inc.dk to www.thebetanews.com. In this article series I will explain about my experiences during the move. Read the first article before reading on.
Alexa:
I’m proud to say that my Alexa Rank has improved a lot since last week. One week ago it was 1,036,749. Today it’s 412,833, so 200,000 more and I’m back to “normal”. I expect it to keep falling, but maybe not as much as previously. If you want to know how to improve your Alexa Rank, then read my post here.

FIFA 2008 News Is Launched - It’s Time To Start Experimenting
July 19, 2007
Three weeks ago I launched my second site - FIFA 2008 News. It has the latest news about EA Sports’ coming FIFA Soccer 2008 featuring interviews, screen shots, trailers and demos and press releases directly from EA Sports’ Press Room.
It all started out with an article I wrote for Connected Internet, which quickly became and is one of the most read on the site. Everton Blair suggested that I started a site up with FIFA 2008 news, I’ve done that and I’m proud to say that traffic is growing each day.
This is my first attempt at a “real” niche blog. I’ll try a few experiments on it.
